Robert Harris Chapman was born in Highland Park, Ill., in 1919 and died in 2000. He graduated from Princeton University in 1941 and began his professional career at Harvard University in 1950. He became a professor of English literature and was an accomplished playwright, a theatrical consultant, and Director of the Loeb Drama Center at Harvard.
